Trace Metal Determinations:
In both simple and complex sample matrixes having detection limits superior to those obtained in Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometry (ICPOES) or Atomic Absorption (AA)
The ratio of two or more isotopes can readily be determined by measuring specific isotopes of an element. Isotope ratio determinations are used in geological dating of rocks, nuclear applications, determining the source of a contaminant, and biological tracer studies.
Isotope dilution experiments are also performed by ICP-MS using sample spiked with an enriched isotope of the element of interest. The enriched isotope acts both as a calibration standard and an internal standard. Isotope dilution is the most accurate type of all analyses and is often used to certify standard reference materials.
